Quarantine Mode

In the past Discord's only way to deal with spammers was disable the account (as well as of recently, adding a Spammer (1 << 20) flag which shows a warning to other users when trying to look the account's messages), then let compromised account owners appeal. This posed one major issue though: A disabled account gets deleted automatically after 14 days of being disabled. If Discord's Trust and Safety team didn't get to your ticket by that time you were out of luck and lost your account. Countless people have complained about this on Twitter, Reddit and other social media pages.

Introducing Quarantine Mode

Going forward, instead of disabling an account, Discord is instead adding a new Quarantined (1 << 44) flag to users who are suspected to be spammers. An account with this flag is unable to send direct messages to other users that they haven't previously messaged and is also unable to join new servers.

No More Time Trouble

In order to get this flag removed, an appeal by the account owner has to be made, similarly to previously when an account was disabled, however in this case there is no time pressure as quarantined accounts are not scheduled for deletion after 14 days. There is also a help center article which goes into more detail, however it is currently still locked.

Screenshots

Below you can find a few screenshots of what it would look like if you were logged into an account that has been quarantined. Since this feature is a recent addition, remember that things are subject to change.
